Update from the December Parish Council Meeting

Please see below the highlights of the Parish Council meeting on Wednesday 11th December:

Public Consultation

We began seeking feedback from residents on three proposals; the redesign of the Village Hall Car Park, the creation of the new Burial Ground and the handover of the maintenance of St Michael and All Angels’ Churchyard when it closes (due to being full) during 2020.  We began seeking residents’ views at the Leafield Christmas Fayre and there is still the opportunity to feedback on initial proposals from our website http://www.leafieldvillage.co.uk/invitation-to-take-part-in-leafield-parish-councils-public-consultation/ .  Forms are also available at the Peapell Stores and the Village Hall until 31st December.

Further consultation will take place in January with a public meeting on Wednesday 15th January at 8.15pm in the Village Hall – please make a note in your diaries.  Each household will also receive a consultation questionnaire.

Budget for 2020-2021

The draft budget for 2020-2021 is still under discussion pending the results of the public consultation.  We will need to make increases to the current budget in order to run the projects currently under consultation – outline figures are included in the Consultation Paper mentioned above.  The Precept (Council Tax) request will be submitted to West Oxfordshire District Council following the consultation at the end of January.

New Website

We have chosen Eyelid Productions to design and build a new website for us early in the New Year.  This is to update the look and content but also to ensure it is fully accessible, in accordance with new legislation for town and parish councils.

We are on the lookout for good photos of the village for inclusion on the homepage, so if you have any that you would be happy to share please email them to leafieldparishcouncil@outook.com

Damage to Village Greens

There have been several instances of vehicles damaging the Greens in the last few months, particularly with the very wet weather, so ‘No Parking’ signs have been placed on the main Green.

Insurance for Events on Parish Council Land

Following advice from our insurers, we will be requesting that any events held on Parish Council land are covered by £5m Public Liability Insurance.  Please contact the Clerk if you are planning to hold an event.

Climate Change Emergency Sub Committee

The public meeting held in November was successful and well attended, with many ideas being discussed.  It is planned to hold a second meeting in the New Year.

Full Draft Minutes are available at http://www.leafieldvillage.co.uk/parish-council/parish-council-minutes/

The January Parish Council meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th January at 8pm in the Pavilion, Leafield Village Hall.
